First off, if that involved buying Deathwatch or Rogue Trader, and me running it, it'd be up to THEM to cough up the money for all those books. Some folks seem to gravitate toward the Orks as a more 'light-hearted' force (the kitbashing opportunities are certainly silly), but fluff-wise, they're still genocidal maniacs who happily slaughter 'humies' down to the last man, woman, and child.ДЄ couple of players in my gaming group have floated the idea of an RPG campaign set in the Warhammer 40K universe, with such cheery ideas as having the PCs all be members of the Imperial Guard's Penal Legion. Warhammer 40000 is a trademark/property of Games Workshop.ДЄgreed on that. The back-blast is just some Poly-Fill cushion filler. The rocket-launch effect was achieved with a translucent plastic 'rocket blast' effect from a HeroClix 'Fixer' miniature. The 'spotter' of this team is at a bit of a disadvantage down in the sludge, but he's still contributing his part by shooting in the general direction of the enemy. The idea was that the lasrifles have protective covers for transportation through the swamp/jungle, but when it's time to use them, the trooper just fires through the covering. I also used some putty to put wraps over the nozzles of the lasrifles. I used some 'bitz' from various figures, including a leftover rocket launcher from a heavy weapons team set, some Warhammer Fantasy beastman heads, and other Games Workshop parts. The base is a decorative diorama base from an old Thunderbolt Mountain set. This particular base is meant to represent an Imperial Guard rocket launcher team. In memory of that, while I was helping out a friend with conversions for his Warhammer 40K Imperial Guard army, I cobbled together a few Imperial Guard Beastman troopers for his force. Once upon a time, circa the Rogue Trader era, you could actually get a few miniatures of Imperial Guard Beastmen (though only one really looked the part).
